FormaSpace: Audio Experience

Project created for a project conceptualization course. In collaboration with class colleagues, we created FormaSpace, an immersive and interactive experience that lets users freely shape their environment with different objects, interact with other users, and choose their sound and light atmosphere. Each colour is connected to the instrumental version of songs of different genres. The mandate is to give users the chance to escape, or to come back in the past.

Installation
We decided to take a projector pointing at the floor as the light source. We have two speakers in both sides of the room. Screen separate the interactive space and the material.
We wanted the controller on a touch screen (a tablet), but the prototype stays on the computer. The first idea was to put a tablet on a podium in the middle of the room, but we didn’t succeed.
Having more time, we could have explored the possibility of having a radio instead of a tablet. The dials could have had their own functionalities, one for music, the other for the colour of the lights, as if the user was tuning to a radio channel.
How the project works
